Furniture has figured in Jack’s architectural career from the very start, when in his thesis project at Bristol University he chose to design a table rather than a building, which was modelled on a combination of the spatial theories of Mies Van der Rohe and Victorian card tables. The design secured Jack the professor’s prize, awarded by RIBA external examiners.
Throughout his career, Jack has specified approximately £1B of contract furniture for some of the UK’s biggest companies in banking, professional services, TMT, and hospitality. Part of his success was generated by his great ability to understand, embrace, and create opportunities from the rapid changes that have characterised the industry over the last decades.
