Our Atlanta Studio Celebrates the Start of the School Year by Raising More Than $50,000 for Backpack Bash

Following the successes of the Perkins&Will Backpack Bash for the past three years (2021, 2022, and 2023), our Atlanta studio and local partners teamed once again to help alleviate the stress associated with purchasing school supplies—and we took it another step further this year! In collaboration with Atlanta Public Schools, Continental Colony Elementary School, Fickett Elementary School, and Kimberly Elementary School were chosen for this year’s back-to-school initiative.

Students were able to personalize a name tag for their backpack after collecting supplies.

Great partnerships are the backbone of this initiative, and as a result of 46 returning and new industry partners, our Atlanta studio was able to raise over $50,000 in donations. This sizeable donation has allowed the team to provide new backpacks for more than 1,100 students and enough school supplies to last through the school year.

Students and their parents were invited to Fickett Elementary School to pick up these supplies and enjoy a fun day of music, snacks, games, and a chance to design a keychain for their new backpacks.

Throughout the day, 150 volunteers helped distribute school supplies at Fickett Elementary School.

As a core component of Perkins&Will’s Social Purpose program, we consistently seek opportunities to give back to our communities and we’re thrilled to have worked with the faculty, administration, and families of Continental Colony, Fickett, and Kimberly Elementary Schools. The Backback Bash is considered a success thanks to our nearly 40 partners in the design, architecture, engineering, and construction industry.
