As cities across the Bay Area confront the interconnected challenges of climate change, sea level rise, and urban regeneration, Perkins&Will has hired Sarah Moos Thompson as a Landscape Architecture Principal in its San Francisco studio. Moos Thompson brings extensive experience guiding complex public realm, waterfront, and resilience-focused projects throughout Northern California, and will reinforce the firm’s integrated design approach and growing landscape architecture practice.
“Sarah brings a rare combination of design excellence, technical rigor, and systems thinking to some of the most pressing challenges facing our communities today,” said Brandon Kent, Managing Director of Perkins&Will’s San Francisco studio. “Her experience leading transformative landscape projects throughout the Bay Area will deepen our ability to create places that are not only beautiful, but also environmentally regenerative and socially impactful.”
Moos Thompson‘s recent local work includes the vision and planning of San Francisco’s India Basin waterfront, the completed public realm campus for Emery Yards in Emeryville, and Elevate San Rafael, a large-scale multidisciplinary climate adaptation strategy developed for the Resilient by Design Bay Area Challenge. She is actively involved with the American Society of Landscape Architects and is joining the Bay Area Council as a policy committee co-chair, guiding the organization’s advocacy on shoreline resilience and waterfront development.
Moos Thompson’s appointment reflects Perkins&Will’s continued investment in the Bay Area and its commitment to helping communities navigate a rapidly changing environmental landscape through innovative, science-based design.
