The University of Georgia Track and Field Complex has received the jury award in the architecture and interior design category at the 2026 AIA Aspire Design Awards, a regional program recognizing design excellence across the southeastern United States. The jury award is reserved for projects selected by the jurors for exceptional achievement and distinction within their category.
Designed for the University of Georgia’s men’s and women’s track and field programs, the 34,700-square-foot complex reimagines the collegiate track and field experience as a high-performance environment where architecture, research, and athletic wellness work in concert.
Inspired by the motion and precision inherent to the sport, the design translates speed and movement into a cohesive architectural language expressed through sweeping forms, dynamic circulation patterns, and a dramatic grandstand canopy. The project is further distinguished by its research-driven approach, incorporating computational fluid dynamics modeling to optimize track orientation and advanced performance technologies that support athlete training and competition.
