Donovan Nelson

AIA, LEED AP
Associate Principal, Health, Minneapolis

Donovan is fueled by his curiosity of the world around him. Growing up around music, dance, and a house that seemed to always be under construction, he found an interest in architecture through a high school drafting class. Through his involvement in orchestra and ballet he learned of the value of relying on a team of individuals to perform. Donovan’s work is driven by this perspective and views the design process as a choreography of individuals creating architecture together. He believes in bringing multiple perspectives, voices, and skills together for collective success.

Donovan’s interest in healthcare began early in his life. As an adolescent and later as a parent Donovan spent many weeks in healthcare facilities and realized to impact of these environments on the well-being of people. He is driven by his personal experiences in these spaces and aims to design environments that nurture and lift the human spirit.
