Gavin Smith

AIA, CDT, LEED AP BD+C
Associate Principal, Seattle

Raised by a civil engineer, Gavin was interested in how things work and come together from a young age. This led him to study engineering and industrial design at Arizona State University. That was until he discovered architecture—the perfect marriage of technical thinking and design.

Gavin has been with Perkins&Will since the start of his career. While studying for his masters at Georgia Institute of Technology, he worked in our Atlanta office. After spending a couple years living and working in London, Gavin returned to our Chicago studio, and later joined the Seattle studio.

His engineering mindset is reflected in his passion for technically complex projects. Gavin loves the challenge of figuring out how every design detail comes together holistically to reflect the larger vision for the project.

"Being a great project architect lays the foundation for being a great project manager."
