John Hogshead

AICP, LEED AP
Principal, Health, Atlanta

To John, design is all about the end user—and helping our clients in their mission to help others. He knew he was going to school to become an architect, but had no idea where that path would lead him. He has worked on many types of projects over the years, but the path always leads him back to his true passion—healthcare.

John’s love of designing spaces extends beyond the studio walls; one of his hobbies is performing handyman tasks around his own home, as well as making cozy homes for Olivia and Brother, his indoor and outdoor cat, respectively.

During his time out of the office, John enjoys hiking. For a week each June, you can catch him on the Appalachian Trail, section hiking it with a friend in a long-standing annual tradition.

Set atop a heavily wooded ridge, the new CARTI Cancer Center features long views to the mountains beyond.

“As architects, we’re in the enviable position of being able to help our clients help others. That’s what makes our work important.”
Each aspect of the project was designed to consider the patient experience. In his role for the project, it was John's responsibility to provide a design with an inviting atmosphere for the patients.
