John Poelker

AIA, LEED AP BD+C
Principal, Operations Director, Atlanta

Born into a large St. Louis family, John’s personal code of ‘Leadership through Service’ was instilled at an early age. His grandfathers were the Mayor and the Assistant Chief of Police, and his father served in Ecuador with the Peace Corps.

John began his career in New York among two very different fields: high end residential in Manhattan and designing schools throughout the five boroughs. His passion for the latter has led to a lifelong dedication to educational projects and serving students. John carries that passion forward as a leader of our “Learning and Innovation” group; he also serves as the Operations Director for the Atlanta studio.

In John’s his spare time, he loves to hone his woodworking skills, using a collection of meticulously organized tools inherited from his grandfather.

“The practice of architecture and design can be challenging and, if a project isn’t built on a foundation of trust and respect, it will never be a success.”
