Julie Gauthier

Associate Principal, Corporate Interiors, Houston

If you ask Julie how she would describe herself in one word, her immediate and energetic response is “memorable!”  She’s a type A personality, definitely, but with a creative confidence and knack for process and organization in the built environment. Born into a family of crafters, she embraces beauty and function in all aspects of her role as an interior designer.

With an appreciation for balancing utility and aesthetics, Julie’s practice is rooted in thoughtful discovery and placemaking. Every day, she is driven by conceptualizing client-focused, functional, and healthy environments that are built upon communication, strategic programming, and a passion for creating spaces that inspire.

When Julie’s not in the office, she’s exploring Houston’s restaurant scene or giving back to her community. For the past 15 years, she has been a volunteer and board member for the Rice Design Alliance, a community outreach organization of the Rice School of Architecture that is focused on the urban fabric of the Houston region and advocates for the built environment through educational programs.

“Place is created when human experience happens in a space. This is why design matters and why it demands our attention and thoughtful creativity.”
Fun Fact

Julie is an avid collector of Eva Zeisel pottery, and even met her on Eva’s 101 birthday, during a trip to New York.
