Katie Andersen
Katie is fascinated by the inside of buildings and likes solving for the human scale: how people see where to go and what to do and how interior spaces make us feel. A core member of the Atlanta studio’s Healthcare practice, she makes an art of threading the technical puzzle that is getting a person from here to there with the actual experience of how many steps it will take. She looks to create moments of peace amid stressful activities and to simplify the environment wherever possible.
Threading the evolving technologies of healthcare with the technology component of contemporary architectural practice makes Katie feel right at home in healthcare design. In thirteen years at Perkins&Will, her sensibility has been informed by early-career work with global experts on brand-new projects for international clients, for which her modeling facility was essential to keeping pace with the design and delivery. More recently, her work with domestic and Southeast regional clients has focused on nurturing deeper client relationships through multiple projects. She now gets to flex her leadership muscles, building her teams around their talents and ideas and connecting their strengths to those of the clients she has come to know well and appreciate.
