ZO Residential Tower

Oakland, California
New mixed-use residential high-rise building in downtown Oakland.

This residential mixed-use building introduces a new lifestyle opportunity to downtown Oakland, which reflects the client’s brand as well as Oakland’s unique market and demographic. Notable for being the first high-rise building to break ground in Oakland since 2008, ZO is a new 23-story residential tower with 206 apartment units and three levels of above-grade parking.

Transit-oriented and bicycle-friendly, with well-used outdoor spaces that connect residents to each other and to the community, these will be residential units that demonstrably support downtown living.

Healthy and sustainable living is fundamental to the identity of this high-rise. The project incorporates a menu of outdoor amenity areas, at multiple scales, located at various levels, and range from intimate and private to significant and semi-public.

Breaking traditional mixed-use boundaries, ZO combines lobby with a potential outdoor café and flex space for a more lively experience. Extending the existing treelined street and retail, the project adds to the transformation of downtown Oakland, and 17th Street in particular, into an exciting neighborhood destination.
