Texas A&M University Veterinary Education Research & Outreach Center
The Veterinary Education, Research and Outreach Center (VERO) is a regional veterinary teaching and research center located at West Texas A&M University to serve the Texas Panhandle & Plains region. VERO’s mission includes preparing the future workforce to meet the needs for high-quality veterinary medical services and supporting the massive livestock industries in this region.
This partnership between the College of Veterinary Medicine and WTAMU aims to advance their overlapping educational, research, and outreach missions in serving the youth and the livestock industries in the west Texas region.
This facility provides teaching labs and classrooms to support undergraduate education with a curriculum focusing on production management and anatomy and physiology.
Research programs focus on veterinary clinical and applied research to support the College of Veterinary Medicine faculty, postgraduates, and fourth-year rotations. Area of emphasis on production management issues will include antimicrobial resistance, infection and immunity, bio-security, genetics/ genomics, and epidemiology.
Community outreach targets include veterinary technicians, producers, the agricultural workforce, and 4-H and FFA youth programs.
