WASHINGTON, D.C.— Kenneth Webb joins Perkins&Will as the regional health practice leader for the Northeast. Based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. studio, Webb will oversee collaborative efforts between the D.C., Philadelphia, New York, and Boston health practices.
Webb’s career has spanned over 25 years in the healthcare design field. His portfolio of work includes academic and private medical campus plans, patient bed towers, cancer centers, ambulatory care facilities, and major builds such as Penn State’s Lancaster Hospital, MedStar Georgetown University Hospital Medical-Surgical Pavilion, and the UConn John Dempsey Hospital Expansion. He recently served as president of the American Institute of Architects Academy for Architecture and Health (AIA AAH), where he remains a board member.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled that Kenneth is joining Perkins&Will,” says Marie Henson, Perkins&Will’s firmwide health practice leader. “His client-centric, design-forward approach is backed up with expertise and experience that will strengthen our growing Northeast health practice. Kenneth is well known in the healthcare architecture community, and we’re proud to have him join our team.”
Meeting the needs of an evolving industry
Perkins&Will was named Interior Design magazine’s top “Healthcare Giant” for 2024, a designation that reflects the amount of work billed in that sector each year. The firm has a robust global health practice in specialized areas ranging from behavioral health to rehabilitation. In his new role, Webb will tap into the potential for even broader success in projects of all scales locally, regionally, and beyond by deepening the Northeast studios’ combined approach.
“I cannot be more excited to join the incredibly talented Northeast regional health practice at Perkins&Will,” says Webb. “I look forward to the opportunity to leverage our collective expertise, in partnership with the diverse practices at the firm, to better serve the communities, academic clients, and health systems across the region.”
As integrated delivery systems consolidate, large healthcare providers are seeking design firms in their geographic proximity that have the depth of expertise to match their scale. Perkins&Will’s capacity to integrate healthcare projects across multiple regional studios to meet client needs has resulted in recent work such as the MHMMC Malone Family Tower in Portland, ME, The Hub for Clinical Collaboration at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and ongoing work for the University of Pennsylvania Health System.
Leveraging expertise to unify regional efforts
Webb holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in architecture from Clemson University. He is licensed to practice in seven states and is adept at managing large, complex healthcare projects, as well as working with executive leadership, physicians, and consultants to design state-of-the-art facilities. His training and professional experience will enhance Perkins&Will’s ability to deliver spaces that enhance patient care and outcomes.
“We are fortunate to already have strong healthcare design teams in our Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. studios,” says Bill Harris, Northeast Regional Managing Director at Perkins&Will. “With Kenneth’s organizational support—as well as his deep and complementary experience—we will be able to better leverage the entire region to address the challenges facing our healthcare institutions in the Northeast.”
