Ryan Kurlbaum
A steward of design excellence and champion of adaptive reuse, Ryan is committed to creating transformational, enduring work. Revealing the potential of a site captivates his imagination. He is inspired by buildings that are durable and well crafted, the result of the hands that shaped them years before. Ryan’s work breathes new life into these forgotten places and transforms them into memorable civic, cultural, and community destinations.
Ryan believes that every adaptive reuse project needs vision and ambition, rigor and commitment. Like all good endeavors, the process of repurposing takes time and patience—these buildings deserve our undivided attention.
Outside of project work, Ryan is an integral voice in our Boston studio, helping lead the Associates Leadership Group, Design Discussion Committee, and community volunteering partnerships. He finds joy in morning runs, the poetry of Mary Oliver, and electronic music.
