What’s inspiring you lately?

We recently watched the Czechia National Team train at Texas Health Mansfield Stadium—a venue we designed in collaboration with our Denver and Kansas City studios—as they prepared for the FIFA World Cup. There’s nothing like watching a space our designers created take on a life of its own. I spend a lot of time in rooms where the appetite for bold, meaningful design is bigger than ever, and that energy is contagious.

What do your clients need from their design partners right now?

Texas districts are building at a rapid pace, and every one of them is trying to solve the same practical challenges of delivering schools their communities will be proud of for decades, on a budget that demands creativity and discipline. Through all of that, kids are spending their formative years in these spaces, and the firms making a difference are the ones bringing well-being to the center of every decision. I think when you’re genuinely invested in getting it right, clients can feel it.

In addition to your associate principal promotion, you’ve also been named Design Principal for interiors. What’s on the horizon for our interiors team?

We like to be bold. There’s so much talent in this studio, and I’d like to see our work pushing new boundaries. When it’s most successful, design feels inevitable, and our goal is always to reach that level of expression, where a space feels human and reflective of a client’s unique brand and voice.

What’s your vision for the future of healthcare design?

I want to create spaces that generations can enjoy. And it’s important that these spaces leave as light a footprint on the earth as possible. Sustainable design has been slower to take hold in healthcare than in other sectors, but that’s changing, and I think it’s one of the most important differentiators a firm can offer right now. Clients are open to the right solutions.

What trends are you watching most closely in healthcare design?

I see big opportunities in prefabricated construction. Following proven design solutions, we can encourage both the reduction of waste and shortened construction timelines. This kind of problem solving is in line with our Living Design principles, also helping hospitals lessen the duration and impact of construction on their operations.

Look five years ahead. What do you see?

The industry will demand deeper integration across sustainability, technology, and human experience. And our clients will expect us to lead that conversation. For branded environments, that means designing spaces that are more agile, more intentional, and more attuned to how people actually move through and feel in a place.

How is our industry changing, and what do you see in the near future of our work?

Our industry will continue to evolve rapidly, through AI, hybrid work and other metrics. However, while technology will accelerate how we work, people will always be at the center of what we design and why we design it. Championing human-centered design is the key to resilient, inclusive, impactful work.

What are you excited about as you join the team creating the New Pediatric Campus?

Helping bring this project to life is a dream come true! I’ve worked on many pediatric projects and have a personal connection to this work that makes it especially meaningful. My role now is really about stewardship and making sure the design intent endures at each stage and clients’ needs are met. The enthusiasm the team brings on day one has to carry all the way through, and I’m here to protect it.
