One Manhattan West

New York, New York

At One Manhattan West, three newly designed floors transform an unfinished portion of an existing office stack into a workplace defined by experience, choice and care. The client set a clear challenge: create environments that are distinctly different, spaces that delight, engage, and elevate the day-to-day experience of colleagues.

Guided by hospitality, inclusivity, and flexibility, the design supports a wide range of work styles while reinforcing shared values around wellbeing, diversity, and community. Sweeping organic forms, warm materiality, sculptural lighting, integrated planting, and abundant natural light establish a setting that is both expressive and restorative. Together, these elements position the workplace as a platform for ideas, connections, and culture.

Choice, Flexibility, and Neurodiversity

More than 40 distinct work settings are distributed throughout the floors, encouraging varied behaviors, postures, and modes of working. This intentional diversity empowers colleagues to choose how and where they work, individually or collaboratively, based on task, preference, and comfort.

High-focus quiet zones and single-occupant booths are thoughtfully positioned near exterior views and equipped with monitor arms, user-adjustable lighting, and acoustic treatments to minimize distractions. The purposeful mix and placement of settings reflect a commitment to neurodiversity, ensuring environments that support focus, creativity, and engagement for everyone.

The design provides sweeping organic shapes, rich warm materials, unique and varied furniture, sculptural lighting, live plants and abundance of natural light.
Hospitality as a Framework for Connection

Hospitality-driven design shapes the experience across all three floors, encouraging interaction, incidental encounters, and moments of respite. A flexible gathering zone serves as a social and cultural anchor, equipped with a stage and integrated technology to support presentations, town halls, and events. A barista and market create an everyday destination, drawing people together and supporting informal connection throughout the day.

Living room-inspired breakout spaces, defined by a fireplace and elevated finishes, offer comfortable settings for conversation or pause. Reconfigurable conference and multipurpose rooms extend this approach, allowing spaces to adapt seamlessly to changing needs while maintaining a consistent, welcoming character.

Wellbeing Embedded in the Workplace

Physical and mental wellbeing are integral to the design. Dedicated Privacy and Wellbeing rooms provide open floor space to support rest, reflection, and multicultural activities. An enhanced Quiet and Meditation room offers extensive control over lighting levels and temperatures, sound, and atmosphere, complemented by calming rock garden and integrated planting.

Furniture, textures, and material selections throughout these spaces draw from neurodiversity research, creating environments that reduce stress and support restoration ADA-enhanced team spaces further extend this commitment, with adjustable furniture and integrated technology that supports colleagues who are visually or hearing impaired. Artwork curated through ArtLifting is featured throughout the space, showcasing artists impacted by homelessness or disabilities.

The hospitality driven environment encourages interaction, incidental encounters and craveable social spaces to recharge.
