When long-term client Newell Brands purchased a building that required repositioning, we set out to design an energetic, mobile, and collaborative space. The design included a full renovation of the café, conferencing center, and central communal zones on each floor, complete with new brand identification, as well as the addition of a new five-story stair.
With a building footprint roughly one-third the size of Newell’s previous home, the goal was to accommodate flexible work. Typical floors are set up to accommodate “permanent residents” and visitors and telecommuters hoteling in the space. Collaborative areas feature furniture configurations that allow for multiple meeting types as well as integrated technology like writeable surfaces that ease quick collaboration and knowledge transfer.
The team further transformed the workplace with the addition of an indoor/outdoor experience, including the addition of a rooftop terrace, outdoor patio, and green roof made of 8,000 square feet of planting. Spaces within the landscape play a pivotal role in the extension of the indoor program to the outdoor environment with a collection of layered design elements that compliment architectural components of the building’s interior.
