Perkins+Will worked closely with Nixon Peabody to plan and design an optimal workplace for the client’s relocation of their New York City office. Having completed the client’s Washington, D.C. relocation project in 2015, we incorporated best practices and lessons learned into the New York space. Our design team began by conducting a visioning session to vet possible operational/design shifts that would identify gaps and opportunities to improve the practice. We deployed an employee survey, walked though their current office space and conducted multiple interviews with practice leaders and support teams to determine ideal program requirements. Data collection and an analysis of other recently built Nixon Peabody offices across the country gave best practices direction on space usage, technology requirements, and operational support needs.Following the development of a qualitative program, the team produced block and stack analysis as well as qualitative analysis for various occupancy scenarios.
Our conceptual design solidified the client’s decision to relocate to 55 West 46th Street, strategically balancing real estate considerations, design vision, and functionality. The final design solution reinforces key priorities of increased collaboration, greater transparency, improved employee well-being and strong brand identity.
