Manuel Cadrecha

AIA, LEED AP
Principal

Manuel spent his formative years in two distinct cities—Madrid and New York—that together offered him a taste of “the old and new worlds.” The former instilled in him a love for history and tradition, while the latter charged him with a passion for modernity and the power of creative invention.

His father, an engineer, instilled in him an admiration for ancient Rome—and a belief that architecture is “the last humanist profession.” Manuel agrees wholeheartedly. His work ranges in scale from citywide international developments to neighborhood schools, and is grounded in a love for materials and form, color and light, old and new, and “the inspiring in the everyday.”

Manuel lives in Atlanta with his wife, and loves spending time with his daughters and granddaughter.

“I think of buildings as complete forms, not as assemblies of pieces. I imagine the building, then I draw what I imagine. The building springs from an idea.”
"People – regardless of faith, or culture, or where they’re from – are connected by their appreciation for beauty. Once you’ve found it, you can’t do without it."
"Whenever I go to Rome, The Pantheon is the first place I visit. You walk in and stand under the oculus, in exactly the same place that people throughout time – Napoleon, Charlemagne – stood. There’s almost a magical connection, and this building becomes a vehicle for that connection."

"A perfectly scaled, perfectly proportioned building. People go to Florence and never see this building, but it’s just perfect."
