Westdale Office

Breaking Silos

Inspired by our firm’s ongoing work on the revitalization of the Deep Ellum neighborhood in downtown Dallas, we were approached by multifamily real estate operating company Westdale Real Estate Investment & Management to design a new headquarters that embodies the culture and ethos of their company while providing room for future growth. Already involved in the development of several buildings in the area, Westdale wanted to practice what they preach—ultimately moving into The Epic, a LEED Gold certified Class A office building designed by our architecture team. Because the building needed to be constructed before our team could start on the space, we had the time to improve planning and material choices.

Overall, our design team was able to create a space that was uniquely-suited for Westdale: a warm office that provides its employees with privacy, and also focuses on the city the company helps shape through real estate.

Situated on the north-facing corner of the building, this breakout space takes advantage of sweeping landscape views.
It's a modern space that utilizes simple and clean materials, with an emphasis on glass-fronted rooms that allow natural light to permeate into the core of the building.

Accustomed to the enclosed office model, Westdale requested a layout that we had not tackled in a long time. For the design team, this posed the challenge of creating an office that encouraged collaboration and transparency, but remained 90 percent enclosed.

Circulation routes are emphasized at key locations where employees can come together and collaborate.

Thoughtfully chosen artwork brings the spirit of the Deep Ellum neighborhood into the space, celebrating the neighborhood of their new office location.
