Drawing on the rich, architectural history of the city, the design of the new Nixon Peabody Chicago office recalls the city’s famed prairie style. Wood flooring and slatted ceilings, a fluted wood reception desk, and a central linear fireplace welcomes you to the space. A keystone of the Nixon Peabody Chicago office is its stunning backdrop to the open stairs, featuring a custom recycled glass pixel-tile image of a huge white oak tree —the state tree of Illinois. Nixon Peabody’s brand shines throughout the office, with colorful felt wallcoverings and starburst angled light fixtures mirroring the law firm’s spark logo.
The design of the light-filled space showcases expansive views of Lake Michigan and reflects the commitment to its new flexible work environment offering a variety of workspace options that enable in-office, hybrid, and remote collaboration. The open layout allows for internal connection and impromptu meetings at the coffee bar and lounge on each level, or at the office pool table in the main cafe. This layout facilitates cross-pollination among the firm’s legal practices and connects attorneys and professional colleagues. The space offers a number of accommodations for colleagues and guests, including wellness rooms, mother’s rooms, and inclusive restrooms supporting all genders and abilities.
Sustainability is one of Nixon Peabody’s core values, and the office’s design demonstrates their commitment in action. Recycled and reclaimed materials, responsibly forested certified white oak veneer, and locally sourced building hardware are used throughout. We carefully selected fixtures to increase water efficiency, and LED lighting to optimize energy performance.
