As the Cities + Sites Practice Leader for our Minneapolis studio, John leads our Landscape Architecture, Planning, and Urban Design disciplines to provide clients and communities with transformative projects that utilize sustainable design principals, lay the groundwork for economic revitalization, and address social and health equity needs. A registered landscape architect with over two decades of professional experience, he has focused his career on sustainable place-making, healthy community design, and resilient urbanism.
John takes an interdisciplinary approach to his projects, having led a wide variety of project types and scales, from large corporate campus master plans to more traditional planning and landscape design work. Specifically, John has an extensive background in mixed-use urban redevelopment and design, campus planning, brownfield design, healthcare district development, multi-modal bicycle and pedestrian planning, green infrastructure planning and design, park and open space design, complete streets design, and public realm streetscape planning. He excels in community engagement, building consensus to develop innovative solutions and context-sensitive recommendations.
John is an active member of the Urban Land Institute, American Society of Landscape Architects providing professional training and mentorship, and has a unique and well-rounded understanding of City processes and entitlements with his role as Vice President on the City of Minneapolis Planning Commission.
