Jay brings over 15 years of professional experience to the firm and helps to create a strong foundation of design leadership in Perkins+Will's Ottawa office. Possessing a background in both architecture and urban design, Jay provides versatility to the studio and its clients, enabling him to balance both the micro and macro decisions of evolving urban infrastructure.
In addition to his design focus, Jay leads the Toronto and Ottawa office's Civic, Corporate, and Commercial practices. In his career, Jay led the design of numerous civic, corporate, and industrial projects, with a solid understanding of multi-governmental clients, the various stakeholders involved, and the often complex approval process required to move projects along.
Jay completed his undergraduate studies at Ryerson University and obtained his master’s degree in architecture at Syracuse University. He also holds a master’s degree in urban design from Columbia University in New York. Since 2010, Jay has been as an adjunct professor at Carleton University, where he shares his knowledge and leadership ability by teaching 4th year Design Studio and Building Science courses.
