Jim has over 30 years of professional experience as an architect and healthcare planner. As a managing principal and Healthcare Practice Leader for the Southeast at Perkins+Will, Jim has directed or participated in some of Perkins+Will’s largest and most complex projects. He has a reputation for planning innovative forward looking healthcare spaces and generating solutions that support clients' strategic goals. Jim's national healthcare planning, programming and design experience ranges from the smallest hospital facilities-critical access hospitals-to the largest and most complex-academic medical centers. He has planning experience in the healthcare and higher education market sectors.
Jim's areas of specific interest include the impact of facility design on patient safety, the hospital of the future and the impact of new technology on healthcare delivery models and facilities. He has facilitated two of our Healthcare Center of Excellence conferences, which are large planning and design charettes, focusing on inpatient room design and the future of healthcare and technology.
Jim has served as a guest speaker and panelist at professional conferences and universities. He recently served as a guest speaker at the Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals annual conference and his topic was "Everything that Rises Must Converge: The Convergence of Technology in Healthcare."
