Joelle Jefcoat is an attorney, registered architect, and Associate General Counsel for Perkins+Will. For eleven years, she served as a Project Architect and Project Manager before joining Perkins+Will’s Legal Department as Associate General Counsel in 2012. Her experience leading Higher Education, K-12 Education, Corporate + Commercial, and Commercial Interiors projects gives her unique insight into the practical issues that challenge design practice and project teams day to day.

During her career, she has served the architectural community by contributing to critical discussions in education and her professional associations. She received an AIA presidential appointment in 2007 to serve on the national AIA Diversity Committee and she continued to serve the AIA nationally in 2008 as a member of the Diversity and Inclusiveness Board Strategic Initiatives Group and in 2012 as a member of the AIA Board Community Committee, also by AIA presidential appointments. Joelle is a member of the American Bar Association's Forum on Construction Law and was invited to speak at the Forum's 2013 Fall Meeting on BIM and P3s, co-authoring the American Bar Forum's white paper titled, "From P3 to BIM: How External and Internal Forces Are Changing the Design Professional’s Role." She received a J.D. from Charlotte School of Law, a Master of Architecture from the University of Virginia, and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. She has also taught graduate architecture design studio as an adjunct professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
